Our beloved son, brother, and uncle, Orlando “Orlie” Montoya, 46, of Santa Cruz, New Mexico, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 18, 2025.
Orlie was born in Santa Fe, NM, to Orlando “Wolf” and Judy Montoya.
Orlie was the kindest, sweetest, most loving and gentle person you could ever meet. He loved helping others, especially his family, and would do anything for them. He enjoyed drawing and creating tattoos, both for others and himself. Orlie was a true jack of all trades who could fix anything. He loved playing his guitar and was his father’s best friend and caregiver—spending time together was their pride and joy.
Orlie worked at Walmart for over 20 years, a job he truly loved. He took great pride in helping his customers with whatever they needed. During his career, he received Employee of the Month several times, along with numerous awards for his exceptional service.
He was preceded in death by his loving father Orlando “Wolf” Montoya; his nephew Patrick “PJ” Medina; and his grandparents Regina & Herman Valdez and Patricia & Louis Herrera.
He is survived by his loving mother, Judy Montoya; his sisters, Jackie Montoya, Yolanda (Patrick) Medina, Vangie Montoya, and Stella (James) Montoya; his godmother, Auntie “Red” Stella Montoya; his goddaughter, Savanah Medina; his godson, Lucas Montoya; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and loving friends.
Public visitation will be held on Monday, September 1, 2025, at 6:00 pm, with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM.
Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 10:30 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, NM.
We are grateful for all your prayers and support as we come together in faith to remember and celebrate Orlie‘s life.
