Orlando Madrid

ORLANDO O. MADRID, 80, resident of Gallina, NM,  joined his wife Alice of 54 years in their heavenly home with their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. He was a strong and gentle man of God with a generous heart. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Orlando worked as a Sawyer at Duke City Lumber and was a proud member of the Jemez Mountain School District Board. After retiring, he drove buses for the school district and directed bus tours for Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu. He embodied the true cowboy lifestyle, dedicating himself to farming, ranching, and the care of his horses, cattle, and numerous other animals. As a pillar of his community, he prayed frequently for his family, friends, and anyone in need. He was a man of unshakeable faith and was passionate about sharing his knowledge of God’s word. If you ever needed advice or simply someone to listen, Orlando was the man to call. With his endless jokes and “dichos” he never failed to bring a smile to anyone fortunate enough to spend time with him.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alice Madrid; parents, Octaviano and Eduvigen Madrid; brothers, Ubaldo Madrid, Jake Madrid and sister, Paula Garcia.

Orlando is survived by his children, Steve Madrid and wife Michelle of Colorado Springs, CO, Orlando Mark Madrid and wife Neomi of Rio Rancho, James Madrid of Albuquerque, and Matilda Madrid of Espanola; grandchildren, Danielle Gonzales and husband Jorge, Zachary Madrid and wife Daniela, Savannah, Madison and Adan Montoya, Sydney and Reegan Madrid; great-grandchildren, Kingston, Teddy, Emiliana, Wyatt Orlando, Lincoln Madrid; Alice-Grace Michelle Gonzales; sisters, Rosemary Madrid, Clorida Valdez, Barbara Sandoval; brothers, Eloy Madrid and Louie Madrid; special sister, Martha Rael and numerous other relatives and friends. 

Public visitation will begin on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Christian Faith Fellowship in Gallina, NM with a devotional service to follow at 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at the Christian Faith Fellowship Church in Gallina, NM. Burial to follow at the Madrid Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Adan Montoya, Zachary Madrid, Patrick Gomez, Raymond Cordova, Ray (Sonny) Cordova and Archie Chavez. 

The family would like to give special thanks to all the staff at Espanola Hospital for their gentle care of Orlando Madrid.
