On Friday January 23, 2026, Octavio Romero took his last breath here on earth, at the Espanola Hospital. He was surrounded by his family as they prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the Rosary and christian songs. A priest was there to give him his last rights.

Octavio leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years, Mariquita Romero. His two daughters Darlene Romero, Esther Peacock (Raul), two sons, Arnold Romero (Theresa), Louis Romero (Josina), daughter-in-law Julia Romero, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. His brothers Rosinaldo Jr. and Leroy (Irene), his sister Priscilla Salazar. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and in laws.

He is preceded in death by his precious son, Leroy Romero, his parents Rosinaldo Sr. and Mercedes Romero, four sisters and three brothers.

Octavio was a man of great faith always praying, reading his Bible and always going to Mass. He loved working with wood, making furniture, going to the mountains for vigas and wood. Father Joe Vigil used to call him St. Joseph. Octavio built a beautiful home and taught his children to work hard. The greatest legacy he left for his family was to pray and live their lives devoted to Jesus Christ. He had a great devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to our Blessed Mother Mary. He was a great inspiration to his family and the community showing what true love is (God's Love).

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, there will be a Rosary at 12:00 pm, with the Funeral Mass at !:00 pm at St. Anthony's Church in Penasco, NM. He will be laid to rest at the Rio Lucio Cemetery following the funeral mass.
