Norman M. Salazar Sr, (Stormin Norman) age 59,
a resident of La Villita passed away of a sudden illness early Thursday morning, May 26, 2022. He was born on April 4,1963, to Wilfred “Caracana” and Maxine Salazar, their youngest son. Norman was an avid fisherman, loved to play his guitar with his close cousin Gary Salazar of Ranchitos and was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed spending time at the casinos and could be found at one or another on most early mornings. He had a distinct voice, and you could hear him across the room, and you knew it was him. Norman was preceded in death by his father Wilfred Sr, his brother Wilfred Jr, sister Felicia, nephews Leroy Quintana, Donald Espinoza and great nieces Julianna Garcia and Natalie Espinoza, paternal grandparents Luis and Cleofas Salazar, maternal grandparents Salvatore and Sirila DiLorenzo, padrino Candido Martinez and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Norman is survived by his mother, Maxine and sister Lila of La Villita, his daughters Audrey and husband Dominic Valdez and Alisha Salazar of El Llano, his son Norman Jr and wife Alejandra of Los Luceros, his companion Helen Woods of Pojoaque, grandchildren Nikko (Alleah), Haylee, Missy, Marius, Aria, Jax and Mateo, one great grandson Jace. His niece and goddaughter Rachel Quintana and her sister Angel and husband Danny Aragon and their children, Lupita Salazar and her children, Rhonda Moya and her children, nephews David Salazar and his children and Marcos Espinoza and his children, Wilfredo and Lily Salazar and their children, madrina Betty Norris (Randy), sister-in-law, Sheila Salazar, Donna Espinoza mother of his daughters and Bernadette Gutierrez mother of his son, great aunts Trinnie Mestas and Onofrita Cordova both of California and many cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
A visitation will take place at 5:30 pm at the DeVargas Funeral Home of Espanola on June 10, 2022. A rosary will take place on June 15, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the St. Anne's church in Alcalde. His burial will be private and held at a later date.
