Nora E. Barela

Nora E. Barela, 76 a lifelong resident of Chimayo passed away on Friday March 10, 2023, of natural causes.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Andres Salazar.  Parents; Filadelphio and Felipita Barela. In-laws: Lalo and Claudina Salazar, one brother Gilbert Barela, raised and considered as sons; Lawrence “Pencho”, Dennis, Louie and Ricky Barela and numerous loved ones.  She is survived by two daughters: Flor Anna Barela and companion Jacob Olivas and Clarissa Rodriguez and husband Tony both of Chimayo.  Grandchildren; Melissa Rodriguez and companion Dominic Vigil of Chimayo, Norma Barela and Albert of Espanola, Andrea Rodriguez, and companion Steven Pacheco of Chimayo, James Barela of Ohkay Owingeh, and T.J. Rodriguez of Chimayo,  great grandchildren Fabian and Jaylyn Vigil, Albert Jr. and Penelope Rodriguez, and one on the way Andreyes Rodriguez-Pacheco. Two sisters; Sophia Pope of Albuquerque and Modesta Montoya of Las Vegas Nevada.

A public visitation will take place on Thursday March 23, 2023, at 6:00 pm and a rosary to follow at 7:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday March 25, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo with burial to follow at Nuestra Senora de Dolores Cemetery in Chimayo.
