Nita Velarde

Nita Faye Velarde, age 88 was taken back to heaven by a choir of angels on March 11, 2021.  She entered this world on January 22, 1933 to Lowell Kirkpatrick and Clara Miller in Witchita, Kansas.

Nita met her husband Ambrose Velarde in California.  They made their home in Velarde, NM on a beautiful farm on the Rio Grande River.

Nita Faye was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend.  She loved Jesus and spent much of her time doing for others.  She sent inspirational letters to all she knew and loved and was always sweet and uplifting.  She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and kindness.  She loved poetry and music.

Nita is survived by her sons, Lawrence (Lisa) of California; Earl of California and Daniel of New Mexico.  Her grandchildren, Austin, Chantel and Cassidie of California.  Brother, Gerald Kirkpatrick of Texas, Freda Epperson of Montana, Del Miller of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is proceeded in death by her husband, Ambrose, daughter in law, Annette, sisters, Collen and Vee and her parents Clara and Lowell.

A family gathering will take place this Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 10:00 at the Sangre de Christo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of Espanola.  A farewell commendation will follow at 10:30 AM led by Reverend Deacon Chris Gilbert of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The family has entrusted Nita's care to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of Espanola.
