Nestor Dominguez

NESTOR DOMINGUEZ, 93 years and 10 months, a resident of Chimayo and formerly of Truchas, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 25, 2019. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Cipia Dominguez; son, Walter; infant daughter, Consuelo; parents, Dionicio and Bonifacia Dominguez; 6 brothers and sisters. At the age of 17 he went to San Francisco to work at the shipyards.  He was a miner for about 40 years in Colorado, Utah and Arizona. He retired from Magma Copper Company in San Manuel, Arizona after 30 years. He was an independent man who was still taking care of all his financial affairs until his recent fall. Nestor loved spending time with his family and friends. Those that knew him enjoyed listening to stories of his past. He was a wise man and had many stories to tell. He loved telling people jokes and making them laugh. He was a hard worker and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.  Mr. Dominguez is survived by his children, Jimmy Dominguez (Monce) of Arizona, Gloria Garcia (Lupe) of Arroyo Seco, Louie Dominguez (Myra) of Denver, Larry Dominguez of Chimayo, Bernice Ortiz (Rosendo) of Arizona, Esther Morales (Luis) of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Filiberto Dominguez of Grants; sister, Nellie Valdez (Augustine) of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law, Prescilla Romero of La Mesilla and Bernie Romero of Cordova; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.   A public visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. A meal will follow at the La Arbolera Community Center in Chimayo. A procession will start on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from DeVargas Funeral Home to Los Llanitos Cemetery in Truchas for anyone who would like to join the family.
