In Loving Memory of Nelson Mario Romero 

April 14, 1974 – June 9, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nelson M. Romero Jr., age 52, on June 9, 2026.

Nelson was born on April 14, 1974, to Nelson Romero Sr. and Esmeralda “LaLa” Romero. He was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, friend and coworker.

Anyone who knew Nelson knew how calm and easy-going he was. He was the kind of person who never asked for much and was always there when someone needed him. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Even during his battle with cancer, Nelson showed incredible strength and courage. He faced every challenge with determination and grace, rarely complaining and always thinking of those around him. No matter what obstacle came his way, he would often say, “It’s just another bump in the road.” Those words reflected the way he lived—facing difficulties with resilience, optimism, and quiet strength. His courage throughout his fight was an inspiration to his family, friends, and everyone who knew him.

Nelson’s greatest joy in life was his family, especially his sons, Roman Romero and Matthew Romero.

Nelson was preceded in death by his mother, Esmeralda “LaLa” Romero.

He is survived by his sons, Roman Romero and Matthew Romero; his father, Nelson Romero Sr.; his sister, Geraldine Romero; his nephews, Jared Lujan and Paul Romero; Paul’s wife, Erika Romero; their children, PJ, Rylee, and Kamia Romero; as well as Madrina, Nancy Madrid; his Aunt Fabiola Montoya; his uncles, Manuel Vidal Montoya, Margarito Lucero, and Medardo Lucero; his Aunt Lydia Garcia (Anselmo Jr.); and his Aunt Alice Romero.

Nelson leaves behind many memories that will be cherished forever. Although he is no longer with us, his love, strength, and the impact he had on those around him will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
