Nelda Gale Romero

Nelda Gale Romero, a resident of La Mesilla, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026. She was born April 3, 1942 to Leonard and Opal Norris of Espanola. At the age of 83, Nelda went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by family.

Nelda was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Severiano G. Romero (Seven); son Marc Romero; father and mother Leonard and Opal Norris; brothers Ronnie and Tom Norris; father and Mother-in-law Carpio Romero and Carmelita Romero; brothers-in-law Tobias, Barney, Bobby, and Rodney Romero; sisters-in-law Karen Norris, Arabella Martinez (Abel) and Edna Dominguez (Richard); nephews David, Toby Jr., and Fernando Romero.

Nelda is survived by her 2 daughters Cindy Wade and husband Eddie and Lisa Gonzales and husband Benny of Espanola; brothers Don Norris and Randy Norris and wife Betty; brother-in-law Ricky Romero wife Debra of Truchas; sisters-in-law Janet Lopez and husband Eddie of Espanola, Gloria Romero of Chimayo, and Sharon Norris; nieces and nephews Valerie Norris, Monica Rains; Scott Norris, Tracy Malcolm Norris, Dora Trujillo (Ernesto), Margaret Lopez (Gerald) Sarita Trujillo (Darrell), Andrea Martinez, Richard Dominguez, Holly Jaramillo (Jerome).

Nelda's pride and joy were her grandchildren; Candice Romero (Ray), Matthew Wade (Amanda), Aaron Gonzales (Crystal) and Devine Gonzales (Claudia). Great Grandchildren; Marcos and Courtney Espinosa, Faith and Maia Tena, Lilianna and Chloe Wade, and Ariana and Liam Gonzales.

Nelda worked for Zia Co and the Computer Center in Espanola. After years of working she decided to be a stay at home mom. We were blessed that she got to stay home with us. Nelda's pastime was bowling. She loved it so much that she almost had a perfect 300 score that she missed by 1 point. She bowled for many years traveling to different cities across the state to bowl in tournaments. Nelda was loved by everyone she knew. After she couldn't bowl anymore, she enjoyed the casino whether playing or eating at the restaurant., 

Services will be Thursday, January 22, 2026,  at 11:00 am at El Buen Pastor (609 Calle Rivera Espanola, NM 87532).
