Miquela Estella Romero

MIQUELA ESTELLA ROMERO, 91, passed peacefully to eternal life with our Beloved Lord Jesus on the evening of February 18, 2024, immersed in loving prayer, embraced and surrounded by her Family. Miquela was born in Nambé, New Mexico, on December 6, 1932, to Gregorio and Beroniz Lopez. She had three Brothers and four Sisters. At the age of 20, Miquela married the love of her life, Arturo F. Romero. The young Family moved to California, where they began raising their daughters. After living in Los Angeles for 12 years, Arturo and Miquela moved their Family back to New Mexico where they settled and built their home in Nambé, near Miquela’s birthplace. Miquela was the pillar of her Family, sharing and teaching the traditions she learned growing up in northern New Mexico. Miquela was a member of Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Parish and was a devout Catholic Christian, sharing her love and devotion to praying the most holy Rosary. Our Beloved Mom, Nana, Great Nana/Nanita dedicated her life to taking loving care of Arturo and her entire Family and she is greatly appreciated and dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband Arturo F. Romero, her parents Gregorio and Beroniz Lopez, brothers Maclovio Lopez, Leo Lopez, Horacio Lopez; sisters Virginia Romero, Ernestina Trujillo, Prescilla Lovato, son-in-Law Vince Garcia, and great grandson Isaiah Vincent Garcia.  

Miquela is survived by her daughters Barbara Romero and Darlene Garcia; grandchildren Jennifer Romero, Jeremy Romero (Kalmy), Jason Romero, Quella Gooch (Justin), Nicholas Garcia (April), Noelle Jackson (Adam), Joseph Romero (Rachel); great grandchildren Santiago Romero, Amélie Romero Jimenez, Francisco Romero, Nautica Gooch, Mateo Ponce, Capri Gooch, Sophia Romero, Aven Jackson, Jeremiah Romero, Noah Garcia, Cielo Romero, Amado Romero, sister Rafelita Martinez-Cline, brother-in-Law Joe Lovato, sister-in-Law Mary Quintana, brothers-in-Law Antonio Romero (Maxine), Andy Romero (Chavela), Sisters-in-Law Oralia (Lala) Romero, Esquipula de Luna (Lupe), and many Godchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The Family extends our most sincere expressions of gratitude to Monsignor Jerome Martinez y Alire and Father Frank Pretto for Sacraments and spiritual nourishment, to Doctors Mario Pacheco, Fei Gu, and Bryan Goss, for their compassionate care for Miquela, and to all generous hearts for their fervent prayers for our beloved Miquela.

A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Nambe Sacred Heart Church in Nambe, NM at 6:00 p.m.. On Wednesday, March 13, 2024 a Mass of Christian Burial will be at the Nambe Sacred Heart Church in Nambe, NM at 10:00 a.m. and interment will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Pojoaque, NM. 

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Garcia, Joseph Romero, Santiago Romero, Amélie Romero Jimenez. Francisco Romero, and Mateo Ponce.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her great grandchildren Nautica, Sophia, Capri, Aven, Noah, Jeremiah, Cielo, and Amado.
