Michael Amaya

Michael Amaya, 42, a resident of Chimayo, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, uncle, and friend left us on Thursday May 27, 2021, to be with the Lord.  Michael was born on May 11, 1979, in Espanola, New Mexico.  Michael will be remembered for his outgoing personality.  He made friends everywhere he went and enjoyed having conversations with anyone and everyone.  He enjoyed music and wood carving. He was someone who loved deeply. His happiest moments were with his loved ones.  He will be missed every moment of every day. We were blessed to have him in our life. He was preceded in death by his Mother Elsie Amaya, grandparents Candido and Sarita Romero, uncles Avaristo Romero, Candelario Romero , Octavio Romero, Tony Romero and Levi Trujillo, aunt Luisita Romero, brothers Valentin and Ventura Velasquez.  Michael is survived by his wife Charlotte Gallegos-Amaya, Father Ramon Amaya, daughters Alyssa Gallegos and Ashley Amaya (Alfonso Martinez), grandchildren Ava Herrera, Ella Martinez, and Roman Martinez, sister Bertha Denetclaw, brothers; Jimmy Velasquez, Bernie Velasquez (Lori Velasquez), David Velasquez (Carmen Velasquez), and Peter Baca. Aunts Gregoria Trujillo, Dora Romero, Rita Romero and Augustina Romero.  Uncles Miguel Amaya, Angel Amaya, and Valerio Amaya.   Nieces and Nephews Lena and Kenneth Denetclaw, Ivan, Lenore, Kevin, Daniel, Melissa, Celina, Cynthia Velasquez and many other relatives and friends.

Services are Thursday June 10, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre De Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral Mass will be Friday June 11, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Chimayo, Burial to follow at the Nuestra Senora de Carmel Cemetery in Chimayo
