\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n MELESIA GONZALES, 86, a resident of Gallina, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010 peacefully with her family surrounding her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Porfirio Gonzales; parents, Adolfo and Sarita Valdez; infant son, Herman Gonzales; son, Bonifacio Gonzales; granddaughter, Rhonda Jaramillo; grandson, Joseph Martinez and great-grandsons, Alex and Adrian Mendez. Melesia was a foster grandma for over 20 years with the schools and was also a cook for the Gallina schools. She loved to crochet, gardening, flowers and making bread and tortillas. Mrs. Gonzales is survived by her children, Benicio Gonzales and wife Bernadette of Gallina, Jose Gonzales and wife Stella of Farmington, Martha Serrano of Tierra Azul, Lala Martinez of Española, Doris Martinez and companion Filimon Lovato of Hernandez, Beatrice Gonzales and companion Michael Cordova of Alcalde and JoAnn Gonzales and companion Kevin Valdez of Arizona; grandchildren, Levi, Bernadette, Ramoncita, Benicio Jr., Corrine, LeRoy, Michael, Arthur, Jody, Veronica, Yolanda, Lisa, Paul, Beverly, Jennifer, Deann, Andrea, Melissa, Gilbert, Kimberly, Valerie, Monica, Stacey, Jason and Aujoli; 44 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A second rosary will be recited on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gallina. Burial to follow at the Capulin Catholic Cemetery in Gallina. The Gonzales family would like to thank Ambercare Hospice and nursing staff and also the Espanola Valley Nursing Home & Rehabilitation and their wonderful staff, for the great care they took of our loving mother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. The Gonzales family has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. \r\n
