Mary Agnes Martinez, born April 14, 1946, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, surrounded by family.
Mary lived a life rooted in love, strength, and devotion to her family. She was known for her gentle spirit, kindness, and the warmth she shared with everyone around her. She worked in education, where she touched many lives with her care and dedication. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy was caring for those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Christina and Antonio Griego; her cherished husband, Manuel Martinez; her beloved son, Mark Martinez; her precious grandchild, Rae Anna Martinez; her brothers, Stanley Griego and Leo Griego; and her sister, Loretta Griego.
Mary is survived by her son, Matthew Martinez, and his wife, Victoria; her grandchildren, Christopher, Desiree, Raquel, Alejandro, and Mark Martinez; and her great-granddaughter, Arabella-Rae Velasquez. She is also survived by her sisters, Janet (Jack) Malcom, Debbie, and Sandra; sister-in-law Augustina Griego; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all those who helped care for Mary. The compassion and kindness shown to her will never be forgotten.
Mary will be deeply missed, loved, and always remembered.
Public visitation will be held at 6:30 pm on Monday, April 6, 2026, at DeVargas Funeral Home with a Memorial Service to follow at 7:00 pm. On Tuesday, April 7, 2026 a Mass will be held at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola, NM.
