Maria Vigil

Maria Oralia Vigil, 92, a longtime resident of Holman, NM passed away peacefully at her daughters’ home in Questa, NM on Friday, September 7, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Federico Martinez and Alcarita Sanchez Martinez; her husband of 59 years, Jose Demetrio Vigil; siblings, Adonis Martinez, Alejandro Martinez, Lavuriano Martinez, William Martinez, Senida Romero, Marcella Vigil and Celia Martinez. Oralia loved to sew, she loved attending Mass and praying. She was a lifelong Catholic member of Sacred Heart Society and Legion of Mary. She is survived by one sister, Amalia Romero of Denver, Colo.; her children, Leroy Vigil (Annabelle), Gloria Romero (Sammy), Marcia Romero, Johnny Vigil (Rita), Robert Vigil (Glenda), Helen Vigil, Olivia Vigil (Arnold), Mary Flores (Fabian), Rosa Martinez, and Renee Hill (Larry); 24 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren and numerous friends and relatives. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 7:00 pm at the St. Gertrudes Catholic Church in Mora, NM. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 10:00 am also that the St. Gertrudes Catholic Church in Mora, NM. Burial to follow at the San Isidro Cemetery in Holman, NM.  The family of Maria Oralia Vigil has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
