Onofre Soberanez, 98, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Canjilon, NM, on February 18, 1927, to Narciso and Elena Martinez. 

Onofre married Miguel Soberanez on October 11, 1945, in Canjilon, NM. 

Onofre was preceded in death by her husband Miguel. They were happily married for 55 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Esiquel Martinez (Libirita), Baltazar Martinez and sisters Elenita Maez (Sertinino), Cedilia Martinez and Petrolina Sanchez (David). 

Onofre is survived by her children Domie Holguin of Odessa, Tx, Isabel Carter of Albuquerque, NM, Inez Vigil (Albert) of Albuquerque, NM, Mike Soberanez (Tina Ulibarri) of Chama, NM, Lorraine Vigil of Belen, NM, Baltazar Soberanez (Elaine) of Grants, NM, Cindy Montoya (Mark) Of Medanales, NM, Ramon Soberanez (Renee) Of Casper, Wy, Jane Trujillo (Mike) of Albuquerque, NM, Diana Ponce (Jaime) of Hobbs, NM, and Narciso Soberanez (Tito) of Canjilon, NM. Onofre is also survived by 39 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren.

A Viewing will be held at Devargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, on Thursday May 29, 2025, at 5:00 pm with a Rosary following at 6:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the San Juan Nepomuceno Church in Canjilon, NM, at 11:00 am. Preceding the mass, there will be a Viewing at 9:30 am, with a Rosary at 10:00 am. The burial will be at the Canjilon Catholic Cemetery. Following the burial, there will be a reception at the Canjilon Community Center.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Marcos Montoya, Michael Trujillo, Rueben Soberanez, Albert Vigil, Cory Soberanez, and Leroy Whitley.
