GEORGIA SERRANO, 99, a resident of Medanales, NM, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Georgia had just celebrated her 99th birthday and celebrated with countless relatives and friends who attended from many states. She danced the night away.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Eusebio & Agueda Martinez, her sibilngs, Getrudes Manzanares, Ferdinando Martinez, Epifinia Archuleta, Isidoro Martinez, Secundino Martinez, Luisa Garcia and Florida Martinez. Her husband Abran Serrano, daughter Isadora Florez, son Eloy Serrano.
Georgia and Abran were married for 73 years. They raised 12 children, Benita Lucero, Isadora Florez (Alonzo), Rita Serrano, Rick Serrano (Georgette), Martha Rogers (Kerry), Eloy Serrano, Patricia Sichler (Bob), Michael Serrano, Abran Serrano Jr. (Donna), Clara Serrano, Lino Serrano (Amy) and Selina Serrano (Louie). They had many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Georgia is survived by her sisters, Cordilia Coronado, Ruby Montoya. In-laws Anita Serrano and Lydia Serrano. Many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Georgia was a weaver, which she learned from her parents. She was also a lifelong bowler. She loved to watch the Colorado Rockies. Georgia stayed busy gardening in the summer and weaving, crocheting and knitting in the winter. Georgia was very active in the church.
A Viewing/Rosary will be recited on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu, NM, with Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Lunch will be served at the Abiquiu Gym.
Burial will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 12:30 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
