Maria Maestas

Maria Salome Maestas, 80, a resident of Española, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018. Maria was preceded in death by her father, Hilario Maestas; mother, Bersabe Esquibel (Margarito); daughter, Mabel Mascareñas; grandson, Johnathan Pacheco; step-sons, Raymond and Abel Maestas and siblings, Selina Baldonado, Doloritas Maestas and Lary Maestas. Maria is survived by her children, Benny Vigil and Bertha Baca (Ray); son-in-law, Rodney Mascareñas; grandchildren, Matthew Vigil (Devera), Michael Vigil (Daisy), Anthony Baca (Felicia), Dorine Archuleta (Joseph), Eric Baca (Desiree), Samantha Baca (Juan), Amanda Macareñas (Christopher) and Anna Mascareñas; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Michael Jr. and Harmony Vigil, Timothy, Tristen and Lorena Baca, Joleen, Christie and Trinity Archuleta and Rainbow Garcia; God-children, Michelle Baca Lavern Gonzales, a special niece Lydia vigil, and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española with burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Matthew Vigil, Michael Vigil, Anthony Baca, Eric Baca, Joseph Archuleta and Juan Andrade. Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Baca, Tristen Baca, Jordan Vigil and Sean Pacheco. The family of Maria Salome Maestas has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
