Maria "Lita" Apodaca

Maria Rafelita (Lita) Apodaca, 73, a resident of El Valle de Arroyo Seco, NM entered eternal rest on March 13^th, 2023, at home surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born October 24^th, 1949, to Apolonio and Arminda Gallegos.

Lita was a cosmetologist by trade and enjoyed doing this as a profession in her twenties. Later as she had children, she stayed home to take care of her three daughters. In addition to her own children, she extended this and took care of many children in their early life and became an important role model and care giver. Lita was strong in her faith doing many things within and for the church. She was a parishioner at Santa Cruz De La Cañada, was a member of the Catholic Daughters, and supported her husband Mel in the Knights of Columbus. In her devoutness to the church for about 15 years she was a Eucharist Minister for the homebound and visited many throughout the years. She had a love for music and would often like to sing along to her favorite tunes with her family and especially her grandchildren. Throughout her life she touched many people’s lives and had a lasting impact on all that she met.

She is preceded in death by her parents Apolonio and Arminda Gallegos, daughter Victoria Apodaca, sister Arabella Borrego, nephews Floyd Borrego, and Ralph Borrego.

She is survived by her loving Husband Mel Apodaca, daughters Veronica Apodaca and Loretta “Lori” Aragon, grand-daughter Breanna Molina, grandsons Branndon Molina (Dominique), Anthony Aragon, Azariah Molina, great grand-daughter Trinity Armendariz, great grandsons Rylan Apodaca, Tobias Molina, Jeremiah Molina, Nehemiah Armendariz, sisters Elsie Gonzales, Mary Gallegos, Jane Trujillo (Tony), Connie Orona (Luke), brother Andres Gallegos (Mary Agnes), and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

On March 22, 2023, at DeVargas Funeral home in Española, NM, La Cofradia De La Santisima Trinidad will be reciting the Holy Rosary at 6pm. Funeral Mass will take place on March 23, 2023, at 11am at Santa Cruz De La Cañada Catholic Church. Concluding services with an internment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30pm.

Serving as Pallbearers are Branndon Molina, Michael Marquez, Mitchell Marquez, Gilbert Borrego, Angelo Borrego, and Jason Borrego.
