COURTESY ANNOUNCEMENT

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Manuel P. Madril, who left us unexpectedly on February 14, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on January 1, 1952, Manuel grew up in Espanola, NM, and later made Phoenix, AZ his home after moving there in 2008. His journey was filled with love, laughter, and an extraordinary passion for cooking. Manuel pursued his dreams at culinary arts school, and his dedication to the craft led him to become the Executive Chef at Los Alamos National Lab in Los Alamos, NM, where his talent and creativity shined.

Manuel was not only a gifted chef but also a master of mischief. His knack for playing practical jokes kept his family and friends on their toes, never quite sure if they were experiencing reality or one of his clever pranks. His sense of humor brought joy and laughter to every gathering, creating cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Together with his wife Vicky, Manuel raised three children. He is preceded in death by his beloved son Nathan Madril, his parents Manuel and Virginia Madril, and his sisters Nellie Manzanares and Phillis Olivas. Manuel is survived by his ex-wife Vickie Lopez, daughter Verna M. Madril, son Manny Madril (Romana Speight), granddaughter Alyssa Madril, sisters Evelyn Montoya (Matias), Pauline Martinez (Lolo), and Theres Sanchez, and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

A private celebration of life will be held for immediate family. His legacy lives on through the recipes he perfected, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely. We will forever remember his generous spirit.
