Maguin Romero

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maguin Romero 64, a lifelong resident of Espanola, NM, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 surrounded by his loving family, following a lengthy illness.  He was born on November 29, 1954 to Maguin and Teresa Romero.  Maguin was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Albert Romero, sisters Viola Miera, Carol Blea, Teresa Garcia, and stepsons Steve and Louie Martinez; brother-in-law, Sam Serrano.  He was a hardworking man whose many hobbies included working on cars, gardening a variety of flowers and vegetables, and spending time with his loving grandchildren. He was a friend to all, and spent many afternoons helping friends and family out with various projects. He had a smile ready for whoever walked through the door, and he will be missed and remembered by the many people who loved him. He is survived by his loving companion of over 40 years, Lena Martinez, daughter Amanda Romero (Michael) of Espanola, stepson David Martinez (Barbara) of Beaverton, Oregon; stepdaughter Beverly Martinez of Espanola; sisters, Ferminia, Andrea (Pat), Anita (Ray), Dorothy (Matthew), brother, Amadeo; brothers-in-law, Phillip Blea and Ezekiel Garcia; grandchildren, Michael, Mikayla, and Marcus Martinez, and numerous step grandchildren, family and friends. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a wake service to be held at 6:00 p.m. and a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola. Serving the family as pallbearers are David Martinez, Aaron Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Chris Acala, Brandyn Valdez, and Amadeo Romero.
