Mae Martinez

Mae K. Martinez, 81, a resident of Espanola, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017.  Mae was preceded in death by her husband Joe G. Martinez, they were married for 50 years; parents Leopoldo and Clorinda Martinez from Apodaca; aunt, Nina Griego from Apodaca, who raised Mae; sisters, Vita Atencio from Los Alamos, Susie Holmes from Colorado, brothers, Arsenio from Apodaca, Ramon Martinez from Santa Fe, Leo Martinez from California . Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mae moved to Los Angeles, Ca for 9 years with her husband and infant daughter but her heart was always in the Espanola Valley and she and her family returned home in 1965. For many years she and her husband owned and operated PJ's House Of Shoes. Mae is survived by her 2 daughters, Doris Hollander (James) and Gina Sanchez (Harold); grand-daughters, Cristy Garcia from Albuquerque, Elyse and Danielle Hollander from Los Angeles, Antoinette Shook (Jimmy) from Santa Fe, great-grandson, Josiah from Albuquerque;  sister, Pancha Martinez (Leo) from Albuquerque, sisters-in-law, Tessie Martinez (Augustine) and Carmen Martinez (Leo), brother-in-law, Nelson Atencio (Vita)  and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  A very special heartfelt thank you goes to Harold Sanchez, Mae's son-in-law.  He cared for her and saw that she transitioned peacefully from the warmth of his loving home to the arms of the Lord. A Devotional Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at El Buen Pastor Church in Espanola. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Santa Fe. The family of Mae K.
