LYDIA MODESTA MARTINEZ, 64, a resident of Española, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 following a short illness. Mother and friend to many, she was born in Questa, New Mexico, the daughter of Feliciano and Amalia Vigil. Ms. Martinez is survived by her partner, David Abeyta; son, Dwayne; daughters, Sandy and Andrea; 2 grandchildren; brother, Bobby and sisters, Fabiola and Mary. Cremation has taken place. A rosary will be recited on Friday, August 12, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. also at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. The family of Lydia Modesta Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
