Luis Trujillo, age 67, a resident of Española, New Mexico, passed away on December 12, 2025, and is now with the Lord.

Luis was a beloved dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend. He was surrounded by family at the time of his passing and is now reunited with his mother, Agueda (“Aggie”) Trujillo, his father, Anselmo Trujillo, and his nephew, Marcos Trujillo.

Luis lived a full life marked by hard work, strong relationships, and simple joys. In high school, he was both an athlete and a musician. He played football and basketball, was involved in student council, and performed in the school band on the trombone. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping, and he had a special love for the Christmas season—particularly putting up lights and listening to festive music. He was also known for being good with tools and fixing things, and he enjoyed movies, spending time with, and cooking for the people he loved. He was generous in the way that mattered most—always ready to help and taking care of those he loved. He was also a thoughtful gift-giver and a loyal friend. He had a dry sense of humor and was known for his quick one-liners. He never stopped encouraging his son. Luis had a special love for dogs, including his own dog Java and his son’s dog Dixon.

Luis worked for many years in sales, clothing store management, carpentry, and later flooring. He also served at the New Mexico Legislature as a Senate aide with the Sergeant-at-Arms, supported elections by working at local polling places, and in his most recent role served as an alumni coordinator in a treatment court program—helping new participants transition into the program and encouraging them as they worked toward change.

He is survived by his son, Chris Trujillo; his granddaughter, Avyn Trujillo; the mother of his son, Yolanda Valdez; his siblings, Lorenzo Trujillo (Margaret), Leonardo Trujillo (Elizabeth), Loreta Martinez (Tony), and Chana Romero (Albert); and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, including Anna Trujillo (David), Diego Montoya, Michael Trujillo, Antonio Trujillo, and Matthew Trujillo, and Bryanna, Brooke, Brandyn, Sage, Jayden, and Orion.

Luis will be dearly missed.

Services will be held at a later date. Details will be shared when finalized.
