Luciano Trujillo

d. October 28, 2021

Luciano (Lucky) (Caddy) Trujillo, 78, of Pojoaque, passed away on October 28, 2021 at his home in Nambe. Lucky was born in Pojoaque, New Mexico on August 12, 1943 to Luis Trujillo and Andalecia Archibeque. He was raised with his fourteen siblings in what was always an entertaining and loving environment. He was married to Dolores (Rodriguez) for twenty-six years and had four children, Carl, Chris, Angelina and David. Lucky received a bachelors in accounting, working in the finance industry and for the New Mexico Public Utility Commission as an economist until 2001.

Lucky possessed many wonderful qualities but he will always be remembered for his generosity, optimism, compassion, strength and work ethic. He was the type of person that would give the shirt off of his back for a stranger and was always helping those around him.  Lucky survived stage-4 colon cancer twenty years ago after a successful two-year fight with the disease.  We believe it was because of his faith, optimism, and love for life that he was able to do so.  In his retirement, he helped run a family business for several years, was Mayordomo for Acecquia El Llano for 18 years - making sure that all of his Parciente’s received water to irrigate, often diverting the water himself by walking the banks of the ditches.  His ten grandchildren were always his priority and he looked forward to watching them at their sporting events and hearing of their academic successes.  He recently was dealing with many ailments which were probably from what his body went through 20 years ago, yet he never complained and only voiced how fortunate he was. In this way he taught all of those around him to work hard and to show strength through life’s adversity. Lucky was a good Catholic. He almost never missed mass, even making his way to mass the weekend before his passing.

Caddy loved to play golf. He spent countless hours of his life on the golf course and passed his love of the sport down to his children and grandchildren. It is through golf, that he made so many of his close friends. He was blessed to have so many loyal friends throughout his life. He loved to socialize, always lighting up the room with his smile and his quick tongue.

Lucky loved his family and always wanted the best for them, especially his children, grandchildren and great, grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Lucky is survived by his children, Carl Trujillo (Ellen) of Nambe; Chris Trujillo (Lori) of Nambe; Angelina Trujillo (Mike Mauro) of White Rock; former wife Dolores Trujillo; grandchildren Aaron Trujillo, Eric Trujillo (Chanet), Dominique Trujillo, Kenneth Trujillo, Darren Speight, Gabriel Smith, Mariah Mauro, Christopher Trujillo, Zachary Mauro and Thomas Trujillo; great-grandchildren Scarlett Trujillo and Jett Trujillo; siblings Jose Trujillo, Jimmy Trujillo (Vicky), Alex Trujillo (Martha), Arsenio Trujillo, Geraldine Mannix (Dan), Clara DeMaria (Mike), George Trujillo and Ramon Trujillo; sister-in-laws Rosemary Gonzales, Sandee Madrid-Trujillo, and Maureen Trujillo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Andalecia Trujillo; son David Trujillo; siblings Jeanie (who died at birth), Abie Trujillo, Billy Trujillo, David Trujillo, Jerry Trujillo, and Charlie Trujillo; sister-in-laws Christine Trujillo and Norma Trujillo.

A rosary will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at Sagrado Corazon de Jesus Catholic Church in Nambe followed by Mass of the Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcome at the church at 8:30 am for condolences. Interment will follow at the Pojoaque Cemetery.
