Lucia Salazar

Lucia R. Salazar, 94, a resident of Hernandez, NM passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at home with her loving family by her side.

Lucia was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Antonio Salazar Jr. and Walter Leonard Salazar; Daughter Priscilla Martinez; Grandson Steve Lucero Jr., Husband Antonio Salazar; Sons-in-Law; Julian Trujillo Sr., Steve Lucero Sr. and Steve Martinez.

Lucia was born to Juan Archuleta and Dolores Jaramillo-Archuleta on August 11, 1927, in El Guache, NM. She was the eldest of two daughters and was raised by her Paternal Grandmother Dolores “Lola” Archuleta following her mother’s untimely death.

Lucia was the matriarch of the Salazar family. She was a hardworking, kind, loving and nurturing mother and grandmother who devoted her entire life to her family. Lucia took the upmost pride in maintaining a warm and welcoming home. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and reminiscing on memories of her youth. She instilled good values, hard work and perseverance to all her children and leaves behind many valuable and fund memories for her family.  Lucia will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Lucia is survived by her sister Elisa Portillo; Children, Alfonso Salazar, Carmen Trujillo, Martha Martinez, Dolores Jaramillo (Thomas), Johnny Salazar (Maryann), Joann Lucero, Rebecca Trujillo (Felipe), Michael Salazar (Angelica); Daughter in Law Theresa Salazar; 27 Grandchildren, 37 Great-Grandchildren and 11 Great-Great Grandchildren.

A rosary will be on July 26, 2022, at 9:00 am. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola with a mass of Christian burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with the following serving as Pallbearers; Eric Salazar, Julian Trujillo Jr., Eugene Jaramillo, Benjie Martinez, Johnny Salazar Jr., and Felipe Trujillo Jr.
