Lucaria V. "Jane" - Age 92 - Santa Baca

Lucaria V. Baca, known to most as Jane,92, a resident of Santa Clara Pueblo passed away peacefully Friday July 8, 2011.\r\nShe was born to the late Marianita and Herman Velarde, October 13, 1919, in Santa Clara Pueblo.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband Henry Baca and son Henry Edgar Baca; sisters, Legoria Tafoya, Rosita Tsosie and Pablita Velarde\r\nShe was a pottery maker specializing in figurines. Her animal shaped figures won her and her daughter Starr numerous awards. She enjoyed traveling the states to show case their art work. She especially enjoyed Mesa Verde National Park where she and her daughters Starr and Velma and granddaughter Povi demonstrated the different stages of pottery making and live firing. Their pottery is currently showcased all over the US.\r\nMa, as she was affectionally known to her family, raised her 6 children and was the rock of her family. She lived her entire life in Santa Clara Pueblo.\r\n Ma’s greatest achievements were her children. She loved having the house full of her family and had a laugh that was contagious. Her firsthand accounts of the changing times were incredible and always had us in wanting more. Ma enjoyed watching and feeding all the birds that would come to her window and her guard dog, Baby.\r\n She is survived by her daughters Rozella La Pointe and husband Ron, Kathy Klein, Starr (Pam)Tafoya and husband Gilbert, Velma Baca, son Tim Baca and wife Alice, and her half sister, Teresa Gutierrez and husband Tony and many relatives.\r\nGrandchildren – Lisa La Pointe-Tafoya and husband Mel, Herman Baca, Kathy La Pointe, Kevin Tafoya and Trisha Velarde, Leann (Sega) Martinez and husband Stephan, Dorothy Klein and fiancée David, Julie Klein, Povi Tafoya and Marvin Armijo, Robbie Klein and Hanah Pena.\r\nGreat grand children Alex and Logan La Pointe, Edwina and Cody Martinez. \r\nWake will be held at the family home on Sunday, July 10, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at the Santa Clara Pueblo Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Santa Clara Pueblo Catholic Cemetery. \r\nThe family of Lucaria V.
