Louisa M. Sandoval,
age 99, a lifelong resident of Chimayo, NM passed away peacefully in her home on May 23, 2021, with her family by her side. It is with great sorrow that her family announces her unexpected passing but we stand strong with the firm guidance, respect, and unending love that she instilled in our family. Louisa was a lifelong devoted catholic with an abundance of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. She prayed her rosary several times a day. Louisa was a faithful member of Holy Family Parish, a member of the Altar Society, Guadalupanas, Celadora, attending many Cursillo functions during her younger years and always helping with fund raising activities for the church during its earliest years. We were all blessed to have her with us for so many years of life and were looking forward to being able to celebrate her 100th birthday this coming August. Louisa was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Louisa is preceded in death by her parents, Tecla and Julian Martinez; Brother, Rubel Martinez; Sisters, Mabel Cordova and Trinidad Martinez; eldest son, Ernest H. Sandoval; father of her children Ernesto Sandoval; Grandchildren, Sarah Faith Sandoval, Joseph Levi (JoJo) Martinez, Jessica Sandoval, and Ike Sandoval.
Louisa is survived by her children, Arturo Sandoval (Debbie Ortega), Tony Sandoval (Elaine), Isaac Sandoval (Cindy), and Lucille Sanchez (Victor). Grandchildren, Eric Sandoval (Naomi), Antoinette Sanchez (Norman), Beverly Sandoval (Ivan Lopez), Mark Sandoval (Amanda Manzanares), and Tara and Maria Sandoval. Great grandchildren, Dylan, Audrina and Logan Sandoval, Norman, Samantha, and Jacob Sanchez, Aubrey and Marcus Sandoval, and Kaitlyn Garcia. Sister, Esther Martinez (Phil), whom she cared for dearly. Caregiver, Kathy Romero, very special nieces and friends whose visits and phone calls brightened her days often, Ruby (Bob) Mickow, Brenda Jaramillo, CarolAnn Sandoval, Eufemia Cordova, Carolina Montoya, Eddie Trujillo and many more special relatives and friends.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Arturo Sandoval, Tony Sandoval, Isaac Sandoval, Victor Sanchez, Eric Sandoval and Mark Sandoval. Honorary Pallbearers will be all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Public visitation is scheduled in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of Devargas Funeral Home for Monday, May 31 at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday, June 1, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish in Chimayo. Burial will follow at Nuestra Senora de Dolores Cemetery in Chimayo. The mass will also be livestreamed through the Parish website. Due to the family’s concern for everyone’s safety, masks will be required for all services.
