It is with deep, heavy sadness that we announce the death of Louie Vasquez Sr., who passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the age of 76, peacefully surrounded by his beloved family. He was preceded in death by his father, Rojerio Vasquez, mother, Emilia Martinez; brothers, Clemente and George Vasquez; his in laws, Eliud & Elizaida Arguello. Louie was born on September 21, 1939 in Gilman, Colorado. He graduated from Battle Mountain High School in 1959, he married the love of his life, Eloisa R Arguello of Ojito, New Mexico. He and his wife raised their family of three and a granddaughter (Ivy) in Minturn, Co. where he lived most of his life. Louie was a jack of all trades. Louie worked as a painter for Weiland Painting and Decorating for many years then later for Carlos Leyba Painting. Louie enjoyed his employment with both companies, he loved to tell stories and jokes that were shared at work. Louie also enjoyed watching wrestling, football, gardening, painting, meeting new people and fishing. Louie enjoyed spending time with his family, his grandchildren were the highlight of his last several years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eloisa R Vasquez; son, Louie (Tina) Vasquez, daughters, Debbie (Jesus) Gonzalez & Elizabeth Rivera, brother Roy (Lorraine) Vasquez; sister, Juanita (Frank) Padilla, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews
A public visitation will began on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 6:00pm, in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home, with a Devotional Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at El Buen Pastor Church in Ranchitos, with a burial to follow at the El Buen Pastor Assembly of God Cemetery in Chimayo. Serving as pallbearers Louie Jr., Lucas, Levi, Isaiah Vasquez, Rodolfo Jr. and Brandon Nevarez, Andres Gonzalez and Manuel Gomez, honorary pallbearers Allen Arguello, Alfred, Ivan, Woolfolk and Roy Vasquez.
