OUR BELOVED MOTHER LORRAINE GRIEGO HERNANDEZ, 80, born in Embudo, NM on November 5, 1936 and was a lifelong resident of Velarde, passed away peacefully in the family home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 and is now in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amadeo Lucero Sr. (author of New Mexico’s State Song- Asi es Nuevo Mexico) and Francisquita Miera Lucero; husband, Samuel Griego; daughter, Geraldine Griego, brothers and sisters, Ben Lucero Sr., Paul Lucero, Martha Talcott and Gloria Aubrecht. Lorraine was a generous, unselfish kind hearted person who loved her family. She loved to cook and bake and enjoyed being with her family. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten. Lorraine is survived by her children, Frances, Rudy, Ronnie and Hector Griego, Vivian and Jazming Hernandez and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a Devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Praise Temple in Dixon, with a burial to follow at the Apostolic Praise Temple Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Issac Quintana, Hector Greigo, Jonathan Lucier, Sammy Griego, Ryan Rivera and Angelo Tinoco. Honorary pallbearers are Veronica Quintana, Angel Sanchez and Benjie Lucero, and Yvette Rivera. The family of Lorraine Griego Hernandez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
