Lorraine - Age 62 - La Mesilla Martinez

LORRAINE MARTINEZ, 62, a resident of La Mesilla, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2012 following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her maternal parents, Joe F. and Magdalena Montoya; mother-in-law, Marina Martinez; brothers-in-law, Tano, Modie, George and Howard Martinez and Harold Romero. Lorraine was the most amazing homemaker. Her home was always immaculate. Her favorite color was blue and she loved collecting novelty bears, teddy bears, etc. She enjoyed cooking and her baked goods were the best. If someone had a birthday, she would make them a cake. Her best friend, Betty, was her partner and they spent many hours talking on the phone. She looked forward to roasting green chili. She was the most generous and giving person. She will be missed by those who knew her. Mrs. Martinez is survived by her husband, David Martinez of La Mesilla; sons, David Martinez, Jr., and wife Rosalva of Fort Worth, Texas and Robert Martinez of Española; grandchildren, Scott Naranjo and girlfriend Alexis of Española, David III and Daniel Martinez both of Fort Worth, Texas, Denea Morgan of Marion, Iowa; raised like her own grandchildren, Chris, Theresa and Chantelle Naranjo of Española; sisters, Ymelda Romero of Velarde, Lucille Diaz and husband Frank, Patsy Segura and husband Juan all of Albuquerque, Corine Fresquez and husband Nino of Velarde, Gloria Montoya-Rivera and husband Benny of La Villita; father-in-law, Modesto Martinez of Riverside; brothers-in-law, Michael Martinez and wife Karen of La Puebla, Jerry Martinez and wife Darby of La Mesilla, Leonard Martinez and companion Denise of Española, Melvin Martinez and companion Jean of Fairview; sisters-in-law, Mary Martinez-Sandoval and husband Jake of Riverside, Inez Valencia and husband Edward of Santa Cruz and Angela Trujillo and husband Jerry of Chimayo; best friend, Betty Lopez and boyfriend Joe Roybal of La Puebla; raised like her own children, Shawn Alarid and Nicole Bejerano both of Santa Fe; and numerous other relatives and friends. Cremation is being planned. Public visitation will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of De Vargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a wake to follow at 7:00 p.m. The family of Lorraine Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. 505-747-7477
