Loretta Marie Aragon, 53, a resident of El Valle de Arroyo Seco, NM, entered eternal rest on June 15, 2026. Through her long battle with cancer Loretta never lost her faith, vibrant spirit, quick wit, or deep love for her family. Loretta faced this challenge with the same bravery that she applied to every aspect of her life. She was born September 12th, 1972, to Mel and Lita Apodaca.
Loretta touched many lives through her work and personal life. Her journey/career with social work started with her earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Highlands University. While being a social worker with the State of New Mexico this allowed her to make an impact on people. She created a legacy of helping people in the good and bad times. Always an advocate for all and most importantly herself. She did all this through God and was very active in her faith, a devout Catholic, a parishioner at Santa Cruz De La Canada. Her faith drove her in all aspects of her life and that is why she always said helping people was her calling.
Her greatest gift from God was her son Anthony, whom she loved and adored more than anything. She was proud and honored to be his mom.
She was preceded in death by her mother Lita Apodaca, sister Victoria Apodaca, maternal grandparents Arminda and Apolonio Gallegos, paternal Grandparents Mercedes Marta and Cloroveo Apodaca, Aunt Elsie Gonzales, Arabella Borrego, Jane Trujillo, Francis Elmore, Virginia King, and Uncle Carlos Apodaca.
She is survived by her son Anthony Aragon, parent Mel Apodaca, sister Veronica Apodaca, niece Breanna Molina, nephews Branndon Molina (Dominique), Azariah Molina, great niece Trinity Armendariz, great nephews Rylan Apodaca, Tobias Molina, Jeremiah Molina, Nehemiah Armendariz, Aunt Connie Orona (Luke), Mary Gallegos, uncles Andres Gallegos (Mary Agnes), Raymond Apodaca (Joni) and numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 4:30 pm at DeVargas Funeral home in Española, NM, followed by La Cofradia De La Santisima Trinidad reciting the Holy Rosary at 5:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 11:00 am at Santa Cruz De La Cañada Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, NM. Concluding services with an internment will be at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in El Llano, NM.
