Lionel I. Garcia, 50, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2021 at his home in Espanola, New Mexico. Lionel was born in Espanola on June 14th, 1971.

Lionel attended EVHS and completed a machinist apprenticeship after high school.

Lionel worked in a variety of trades such as carpentry, welding, and worked as a machinist at Los Alamos National Laboratory for many years. In his free time, Lionel enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, riding four-wheelers, and welding for friends and family. Lionel was known for joking around and making others laugh and smile.

Lionel is survived by his wife of 28 years, Louise Garcia; his daughter, Desiree Lopez and husband, Andrew Lopez Jr.; son, Lionel A. Garcia III and partner, Kassie Gallegos. His siblings; Santos Arrieta (Stephanie), Tommy Barela (Angela), Felipe Garcia, Liza Hite (Pete), Andrew Garcia. His brothers-in-law, Lloyd Vigil (Maggie), Philly Vigil (Therese). His sister-in-law, Doris Lopez (Chris). His nephews; Aaron Garcia, Adrian Garcia, Antonio Garcia, Wesley Hite, Lloyd Vigil Jr., Gabriel Vigil, Anthony Vigil, Daniel Vigil, Patrick Vigil, and Kenneth Lopez. His nieces Ellie Garcia, Shelly Gutierrez, and Kimberly Lopez. As well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lionel is preceded in death by his father, Lionel R. Garcia; his mother, Martha Garcia. His siblings; Martina Garcia and Michael Garcia. His nephew, Charlie Hite.

A rosary will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz at 10:15 am followed by the Mass of the Christian Burial at 11:00 am with burial to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery on Saturday, November 6, 2021.
