Leroy Carl Lucero, born and raised in Las Vegas, NM, and a long-time resident of Española, NM, sadly and unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, at the age of 56, surrounded by loved ones.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Rita Lucero; his brother, Abel Lucero; his nephew, Jonathan Lucero; and his sister-in-law, Cathy Lucero.

Carl Lucero was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and a great friend. Always friendly to everyone he met, whether he knew them for years or not—a family-oriented man who cherished his loved ones with all his heart. He always brought joy to a room with his witty sense of humor and lighthearted teasing. Carl was a kind and respected person who was devoted to his community, always willing to help anyone no matter the circumstances. He was a tenacious and dedicated worker for the majority of his life, whether it was working long hours or busy with projects at home.

He is survived by his two children, Destiny and Austin Lucero and wife, whom he co-parented with, Tammy Lucero; his best friend and exasperating dog, Jordan Lucero; his brothers, Joe Lucero and wife Naomi, and Mike Lucero; nephews and nieces, Billy Joe Lucero, Brandy Lucero, Kristen and Paul Ouma, Diego Lucero, Robert and Lindsey Loera, Jennae and William Baum, Curtis and Jamie Lucero, and Dominic Lucero; great-nieces and great-nephews, Naleah Lucero, Elijah Lucero, Paul Jr. Ouma, Nehema Ouma and Nasir Ouma, Jaelynn Loera, Jade Loera, Jacey Loera and Jewel Loera and Logan Lucero. And many other family and friends.

The funeral service will take place on August 6th, 2026, at 5 p.m. at Truth Ministries Calvary Chapel in Española, NM. A reception will be held at The Rock Christian Fellowship following the service.
