Leroy Antonio (Chino) Garcia (81), a lifelong resident of Espanola passed into eternal rest on February 17, 2022, after a well-fought battle with cancer. His memories will forever be cherished by those who love him.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents Antonia and Jose De La Cruz Maestas, mother-in-law Fidelina Duran, sister-in-law Cornelia Romero, and nephews Tim Martinez and Mark Martinez.

Leroy is survived by his beloved wife, Rosila, children Yolanda (James) Lucero, Leroy (Lisa) Garcia, and Melissa Duran, as well as his beloved grandchildren Alicia (Cesar) Ramirez, Barbara Garcia, Adrian Maes, Diamond Rapatz (Jamie), and great grandson Ace Stone Herrera. Also surviving Leroy is his brother Joseph (Diane) Maestas and nieces Felicia (Amery) and Vanessa (Nestor) Trujillo and great niece and nephew Ashlynn Trujillo and Antonio Trujillo; sisters Diana Maestas and Marcella (Robert) Martinez and nephew Robert A. Martinez, great nephews John Martinez and Tim Martinez; brother-in-law Salvador Olguin and family; and niece Pamela Romero (Linette).

Leroy was a U.S. Army Veteran. After his service he worked with the protective force at LANL until his retirement in 2006. He was the epitome of the family man. He loved his wife and children dearly and was always there for them. He loved family gatherings. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team, loved bowling, and was a craftsman in carpentry. He was always working on something unless there was a football game on. He was kind and generous and was willing to help anyone in need.

Leroy loved the Lord above everything and went to mass until he no longer could.

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 11:30 am with Mass of the Christian Burial to follow at 12:00 pm at The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Espanola, NM. Burial will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 2:15 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.

The Family of Leroy Antonio Garcia. Has entrusted the Care of their loved one to De Vargas Funeral Home and Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
