Leopoldo
Trujillo
d. Sep 10, 2026
Española/Coyote
Leopoldo Trujillo (88) passed peacefully and surrounded by his family on Thursday September 10, 2026. Leopoldo was born on April 3, 1938, to Maria and Nestor Trujillo. He shared 61 years of marriage with his beloved Dora, and together they raised three children.
Leopoldo was a devout catholic, who together with his wife Dora, instilled this importance of faith in God in his children and grandchildren. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family. He was an amazing storyteller, and his stories and memories will forever live on in the hearts of all he touched.
He dedicated his life to serving others. From proudly serving his country, to his years working at the state penitentiary, and ultimately to his career as a social worker serving his community, he found purpose in helping others. Yet, his greatest accomplishment and what he cherished most was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband who adored his children and grandchildren, and, most recently, treasured the joy of being a great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Nestor Trujillo; mother- and father-in-law, Eva and Genaro Velasquez; sister, Consuelo (Gerson) Martinez; and brother, Abel (Lucille) Garcia.
Leopoldo is survived by his beloved wife, Dora Trujillo; children, Stanley (Yvonne) Trujillo, Eva (Adam) DeAguero, and Nestor (Vanessa) Trujillo; grandchildren, Katherine, Maria, Ashlynn, Antonio, Leah, and Anita (Antonio); and his great-granddaughter, Ayla Jo. He is also survived by his nieces; Diana Chavez, Patricia (Richard) Garcia, Elaiza (Jim) Jukes, Jeanie(Joe) Martinez, Louisa (Scott) Douglas; nephews, Steven (Rita) Martinez, Jose (Vickie) Martinez, and Abel (Myong) Garcia Jr. He is also survived by many more nieces, nephews, and godchildren too numerous to mention.
Leopoldo touched the lives of many, and in return, he cherished each person whose life he had the privilege of being a part of. The love and connection he shared with others were deeply meaningful to him, and he treasured each of those relationships.
Services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Santa Cruz de la Cañada in Espanola. A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am, funeral mass to follow. The burial will be at the Coyote Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Antonio Trujillo, Antonio Lovato, Adam DeAguero, Sammy Velasquez, Vidal Velasquez, and Steven Martinez
Honorary Pallbearers: Desiree Velasquez, Diana Chavez, Elaiza Jukes, Sandra Lopez, and all of his godchildren.
