Obituary

Leon Salazar

January 16, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearest loved one, Leon. He was tragically taken away from us on the early morning of Friday, January 16, 2026. Leon was born in Espanola, NM, to Leo and Cathy Salazar on February 21, 1987. He was 38 years old, and was full of brightness that lit up a whole room when he walked in. Leon has always been a hard worker and did everything to provide and take care of his family. He always loved working on cars and going on long drives with his family. Throughout his journey of life he enjoyed fishing, going for wood, and hunting. He was the hard rock of our family that kept everything together. Leon was a wonderful father to his four children. He loved unconditionally and had the handsomest smile that everybody loved. He was the type of person who would drop whatever he was doing to help whoever needed him. Leon will forever have a heart of gold that we will cherish. His personality matched his caring, honest, devoted, and loving self. He will forever be loved and missed by us all.

Leon was preceded in death by his father Leo Salazar, grandparents Robert and Mary Carr, his aunt Lori Carr, Uncle Darrel Salazar, great-grandmother Aurora Archuleta, and great uncle Leo Archuleta.

Leon is survived by his mother Cathy Salazar, sister Stephanie Salazar, brother Leo Roybal, his Wife Alexis Salazar, and four children Dakota, Kaydance, Leon, and Allyon Salazar, his niece Hayden Maestas, grandmother Ann Salazar, aunt Cindy (Donald) Sandoval, uncles Robert Carr, Mike Salazar, Charles Salazar, Martin Lopez, and Berlin Salazar, Cousins Annette (Jeremy), Lynette (Kevin), Donna (Anthony), Alicia, Matthew, Andrew, Jeremy (Amber), Bryan, Alexis (Josh), Deandra (Adam), Jazmine (Jonathon), Elias (Kryshauna), Kendra, Anthony Shawn, Dionicka, and Penelope.

Services will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Zion Church in Pojoaque, NM, at 2:00 pm.

The family of Leon Salazar has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the beautiful Espanola, NM.  505-747-7477
