Leon Martinez

Leon D. Martinez 44, a resident of Chimayo passed away on February 16, 2022, with his wife and mother by his side.  Leon was preceded in death by his father Harold Martinez, paternal grandparents Horacio and Dora Martinez and maternal grandparents Audelio and Aggie Trujillo; uncles, Harry Martinez, and Halbert Martinez; aunt, Evangeline “Vangie” Madrid; step grandfather Gilberto Barela and close cousin Jeffery Martinez.

Leon will always be remembered by his big and loving heart and mischievous personality.  Leon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He adored his wife, and they were inseparable, he will be greatly missed by her and by all who knew and loved him.

Leon is survived by his wife Shannon Martinez, son Leondro Garcia (Gloria); grandchildren, Lyle and Avery Garcia; mother, Lucille Martinez (Eddie); sister Erica Martinez (Kevin); mother-in-law Flora Martinez (Gilberto); sisters in law, Stephanie Martinez (Brian), and Veronica Martinez; nieces, Jordynn and Jazlynn Martinez, Indykah and Janiah Martinez (Goddaughter), Harmony Martinez, Francine, Dominque and Angel Martinez; nephews James, Shaun and Nathan Martinez, Simon Jaramillo, and Alberto Gayton; close aunt Carlota Martinez; uncles Orlando Trujillo (Charlene), Audelio Trujillo Jr (Lorraine), and Ernest Trujillo (Angela); Godmother Barbara Trujillo and many cousins.

Services for Leon D. Martinez will begin on Wednesday February 23, 2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo with the most holy rosary to be recited at 9:00 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. and burial to follow at Nuestra Senora de Dolores Cemetery in Chimayo, with the following pallbearers bringing Leon to his final resting place, Jonathan Martinez, James Martinez, Dwight Jaramillo, Andrew Rodriquez, Simon Jaramillo (Godson), and Kevin Martinez.
