Leo Manzanares

Leo Manzanares was born on February 23, 1939, to Alejandro Manzanares and Adolfa Romero.

Leo retired from Rio Arriba County where he worked as a supervisor. In his younger years he worked as a logger in Tres Ritos, NM, and a laborer in Mintern Colorado. Leo married the love of his life Salome Baca on January 11, 1965. After some time they were blessed with three children: Leonard, Charlene, and Daphanie.

Leo was preceded in death by his loving beautiful wife Salome Manzanares; parents; grandparents who raised him Adelido & Adelida Manzanares; and siblings Adelido & Antonio Manzanares, & Viola Bailey.

Leo is survived by his son Leonard Manzanares & wife Arlene of Rio Rancho; daughters Charlene and husband Joseph Valdez of Santa Fe and Daphanie and husband Michael Garcia of Albuquerque; two granddaughters raised by him, Jenika Salazar and Kryshauna Salazar and fiancé EJ Martinez; and special granddaughter and care giver Ashley Salazar; other grandkids Michelle Salazar, Leah Lopez, Leticia Salazar, Suzette Gonzales and Jeremy Gonzales & wife LouDonna; siblings Waldo Manzanares, David Manzanares & wife Pamela, Fidencia Manzanares, and Sally Rodriguez & husband Carlos

Leo also loved his fur babies Tinnie and Buster

A public viewing will be held at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, at 5:30 PM on Tuesday May 27, 2025, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday May 28, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church in Espanola, NM, at 12:00 PM followed by a burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
