Karen L. Lujan was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the age of 83.
Karen was born on July 31, 1938 to Ray and Frances Nordstrom in Boone Iowa. Karen spent 62 years in Espanola before spending her final 2 years in Albuquerque.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Genaro Lujan, sister Mary Frances Garcia, father Ray Nordstrom, mother Frances Nordstrom, brother Raymond Nordstrom, grandson, Devin Lujan; brothers-in-laws, John Herrera, Robert Felix and Ruben Garcia.
She is survived by her son, Jerome Lujan and wife Amanda Lujan(Hernandez), grandson, Elias Sanchez; sister in law, Vivian Felix (Lujan), nephews, Thomas Garcia, John Herrera Jr., Rudy Valdez; nieces, Pam Valdez (Herrera), Evon Garcia, Cecilia Garcia, Mary Ann Garcia and Rue Ann Garcia.
Karen was well known in the community and worked for over 20 years at the Espanola Presbyterian Hospital. Karen last job was at Lowes Home improvement in Espanola. Karen was very proud of her career and was very dedicated wherever she worked.
Karen’s biggest joy was her family. She was always proud of her son Jerome and his family. Karen loved spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking and baking for them.
Karen also loved her pets and always spoiled them and treated them like family.
The Lujan family would like to thank Brookdale Valencia and Roadrunner Hospice for their amazing care of Karen in her final years. They became her family with Covid restricting visitation and she grew very close to her caregivers.
Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz.
