Julia Garcia

Julia Garcia, age 94, a resident of Hernandez NM, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 23, 2023. 

Julia is preceded in death by her parents Federico and Adelida Ortega; siblings: Annie Garcia, Cordelia Trujillo, Fred (Lico) Ortega, Ross Ortega, Orlando Ortega, and Margie Graham; granddaughter, Angel Duran; great-granddaughter, Angel Domenique; Guadalupe Garcia.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Tina Ortega; children: Tony Garcia (Christine) of Rio Rancho, David Garcia (Ida) of Chaparral, MaryAnn Martinez (Orlando) of Cuartelez, Linda J. Padilla (Arnold) of Hernandez; grandchildren: Paul Garcia, Robert Garcia (Nuilena), Adam Garcia (Marcy), Rachel Araiza (Luis), Sarah Ann Garcia, John Ross Garcia, Valorie Pereyra (René), Tonie Martinez (Nickolas), JulieAnne Herrera (Clarence), Tommy Padilla (Martina), Veronica Padilla; great-grandchildren: Lexie Quintana, Anjelika Garcia, Anika Garcia, Evan Garcia, Marcus Garcia, Mario Garcia, Benjamin Araiza, Abigail Araiza, Synthia Pereyra (Nicholas), Elyssa Pereyra, R.J. Pereyra, Hezekiah Herrera, Miracle Angel Herrera, Hope Herrera, Marina Padilla, Aleyana Padilla, Natalia Padilla, Joshua Gee, Mikayla Gee, Jaelynn Lovato; great-great-grandchildren: Luka Ortega and Ronney Vigil; friend Manuel Martinez & numerous other relatives and friends.

Julia was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and a beautiful person inside and out. She loved life, dancing, being at the senior center with her good friends, and spending time with family. She loved to travel, including trips to Washington DC, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico City, Bahamas, Rome, and The Holy Land. Ever with a zest for life, Julia was the life of the room and will be greatly missed.

A rosary will be prayed on Monday December 4, 2023, at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, NM with a mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am, burial to follow at Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde NM.

Serving the family as pallbearers are Robert Garcia, René Pereyra, R.J. Pereyra, Nickolas Torres, Clarence Herrera, and Hezekiah Herrera. Honorary pallbearers are Manuel Martinez, Judy Montoya, Maria Esther Martinez, Crystal Mackey, Shirley Lopez, Lucinda Archuleta, Rosa Montano, Juvela Naranjo, and Ramona Chavez.
