Juanita Valdez

Juanita Valdez passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, at the age of 84 in Albuquerque, NM, where she made her home for many years. Juanita was born on June 16, 1940, and raised in Chili, NM. 

Juanita lived a life of love, laughter, and making lifelong friends in every community in which she lived. She graduated from Espanola High School and retired from Sandia National Laboratory in Albuquerque. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Cruz and Amada Valdez; paternal grandparents Richardo and Emetria Valdez; maternal grandparents P. Lucas Cordova and Juanita Cordova; sister Alice Montoya; brother Tito Valdez; nephew Ernie Valdez and dear friend Eloy Lopez. 

Juanita is survived by her sister Priscilla Valdez, and sister-in-law Maria Valdez. Nephews and Nieces George Valdez (Pam), David Gallegos (Susan), Joyce Vanhorn, Christina Gallegos, David Valdez, and Steven Valdez, and grandnephews Kenneth Valdez and Adrian Dominguez. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Espanola, NM. With a rosary being recited by Guadalupe Archuleta at 11:30 AM, Mass will follow at noon. Interment will take place at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery in Espanola, NM. 

Pallbearers are her Nephews, and Nieces.  Honorary Pallbearers are: Adonis & Joann Archuleta, Hubert & Anna Vigil, Liz Martinez, and Cornelio Sanchez.
