Juan Andres Romero

Juan A. Romero of Tierra Amarilla, NM, 90, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, in Rio Rancho, NM. Juan was born on April 15, 1934, to Perfecto and Cristina Romero in Tierra Amarilla, NM. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the Army. He was stationed in Korea during the Korean War. When he returned in 1958, he began working as a bus driver for the Rio Arriba County schools. In August of 1960, he married Dolores Gomez. Throughout his life he held different jobs, from being part of the construction crew of the Heron Dam to a foreman for the Rio Arriba County Road Crew. He ultimately held a position at the RAC Assessor's office until retirement in 1998. After retiring, he enjoyed fishing, taking care of his lawn, and feeding the wild rabbits and magpies. Juan was the last of 6 children born to Perfecto and Christina. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Miguel (Carlota), Perfecto (Herta), Rosalia (David), Cecilia (Fernando), and Frances “Chica” Lopez. He was also preceded in death by his god-daughter Paula Lopez, and grandson Jared Romero. Also preceding him in death are his in-laws Juan and Emilia Gomez, and brothers in law Aldolfo and Joe Leonard Gomez (Nancy).  Juan is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Dolores Romero, children: Veronica (Ramon) Chavez, Renee (Patrick) Samora, Rena Romero, Andrew (Sandra) Romero. Grandchildren: Alejandro (Sidra) Chavez, Dolores (Zack) Blea, Amada (Andrew) Trujillo, Marco Samora, Brandon (Danielle) Romero, Diego Romero, Roman Romero, Isaac Romero, Andrew (Jacinta) Romero, Stephanie Romero, Timothy Martinez, and Kayla (Matthew) Gallegos. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Adyn & Aria Blea, and Jaydn, Noah & Kyler Gallegos, his two special nephews Tomas (Andrea) Campos, Christian (Monica) Lopez, sister in law Lucy Vigil and many other nieces, nephews and God-Children.

A rosary will take place on Monday, June 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Santo Nino Catholic Church in Tierra Amarilla, NM; with a Mass to follow. Burial will take place at the Los Ojos Cemetery immediately following mass.

Serving as Pallbearers will be his grandsons Roman Romero, Isaac Romero, Brandon Romero, Diego Romero, Marco Samora and Andrew Romero. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren Adyn and Aria Blea.
