Juan Jose Gallegos Jr. (Johnny), beloved father and grandfather, passed away on January 26,2026 at the age of 85 peacefully in his home with his family by his side.

Born on January 11,1941 in Las Tablas, Juan lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, humor, and faith. He was known for his hard work in the US Forest Services in Tres Pierdas. He worked with wildfires in national parks. Aside from working, he enjoyed going to the woods and including his family on his wild adventure trips. He also enjoyed dancing to Northern New Mexico music. In his retirement days he enjoyed spending time with his friends at our local McDonald's every morning. Juan was deeply devoted to his family.

He was preceded in death by wife Ninfa Gallegos, his parents Mariainez Lovato Juan J Gallegos Sr., his son Richard Gallegos, his daughters Arlene Gallegos & Jennie Tena, his grandchild Manuel Rivera, and son in law Felipe Tena.

He is survived by daughter Mary Terrazas, his grandchildren Nelson Terrazas (Fiancé April Lucero), Alexandria Terrazas (Fred), Raymundo Terrazas Jr.,Felipe Tena Jr.(Fiancé Angelik Gomez), Arlene Martinez (Husband Evelio Martinez), Richard Gallegos Jr., Chastity Reyes (Husband Arizai), James Flores, Darius Gallegos, Angelica Martinez, great grandchildren; Lucas Terrazas, Davyn Terrazas, MariaNinfa Terrazas, Emiliano Terrazas, Rogelio Terrazas,Felipe Abel Neri Tena Jr., Akiliano Tena, Arabella Tena, Arizai Jr, Azalea, Ruby, Rose.

As a grandfather, he took great pride in how he showed hard love—support, advice, time spent together, and his presence will be forever felt by those who loved him. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the values he passed down.

A public viewing service will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 5:30 pm with Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm at DeVargas in Espanola.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 5,2026, at 12:00 pm at the Las Tablas Cemetery. 

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Never forgotten
