Josie Baca

Josie Baca, age 86, of Chimayo, NM, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on January 3, 2024.

Josie is preceded in death by her son Rudy Baca and parents Diego and Carlota Gonzales.

Josie will always be remembered by the warm love she had for all her family. She enjoyed visiting, singing and joking with her family. She made music the center of her family’s upbringing. She loved to take time out of her day to sit and write songs and practice with her husband Rosendo of 67 years. She enjoyed being outdoors tending to her beautiful garden and hummingbirds.  She loved to bake and cook especially on holidays. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Josie is survived by her husband Rosendo Baca; sons Andy and Tomas Baca; grandchildren Alyssia Baca, Jerome Espinoza, Madelyn Romero and Andrew Baca; sister Theresa Chavez and niece Denise Chavez.

A rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 10:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, NM, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am.  Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM, at 2:00 pm.
