Joshua “Josh” Derrik Scarborough, age 43, of Espanola, New Mexico, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

Born on August 27, 1982, in Los Alamos, NM. Joshua was the son of James (Tony) Scarborough and the late Maxine Scarborough. He was known throughout his community for his infectious laugh and his exceptionally kind heart. Joshua dedicated much of his life to his work as a plumber, a trade where he was widely respected for his reliability, hard work, and technical skill.

Joshua’s life was defined by his active spirit and love for the outdoors. He loved playing sports and was a devoted, lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Whether he was cheering for his team, hunting in the mountains, or finding peace while fishing on the water, he was happiest when he was active. A "preservationist" at heart, he also spent countless hours meticulously organizing and maintaining his cherished collections, and his great love for his pets was a constant source of comfort and companionship in his life.

Joshua leaves behind his two sons, Isaiah Scarborough & Angelo (AJ) Sandoval. He is survived by his father, James (Tony) Scarborough; his siblings, Joseph Ulibarri of Hobbs, NM, Jeanette (Ryan) Dominguez of Abiquiu, NM, Carlos (Anna) Scarborough of Albuquerque, NM, and Justin Scarborough of Espanola, NM; as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Maxine Scarborough, grandparents Alfonso & Lucy Jaramillo and Jim & Hollis Scarborough.

At the request of the family, there will be no public funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make a donation to a charity of your choice.

The family of Joshua Scarborough has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the beautiful Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477
