Joseph Martinez, 46, born June 19, 1964 passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Santa Fe and was surrounded by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Crecencio Martinez; grandparents, Marcelino and Marina Martinez; brother, Samuel Vialpando; grandparents, Olivama and Andres Martinez; great-grandparents, Pablo and Perfecta Martinez; uncles: Juan and Norberto Martinez, Andres and Ramon Martinez; aunt, Orailie Martinez. Some of Joseph’s favorite hobbies were, riding horses, building, and electrician, going for rides and enjoyed swimming. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Joseph is survived by his children: Joseph Jr. and girlfriend Crystal Valdez, Leah Montoya, Stephanie, Jacqueline, Josceline Martinez and their mother, Elizabeth Carrillo; mother, Perfecta Martinez; sisters: Bernadette Vialpando-Kile and husband Kent, Peggy Martinez and partner Judy Bernal; brothers: Dennis, Clarence, Paul Vialpando and his wife Dealla, Francis Kroesen and wife Orlanda; aunts: Mela Salazar, Berlinda Hice and Cecilia Martinez; uncle, Jerry Martinez and wife Reba; nieces: Victoria, Jesse, Shanah, Shyenne, Brianna, Tanya and Mariah; nephews: Josh, Clarence Jr., Francis, Seth, Amos, Jon, Daniel and Samuelito; 6 grandchildren: Kayla Romero, Destiny Larranaga, Ava Montoya, Janessa Aliyah and Alanna Lexi Martinez and Luke Barber; cousins: Johnny and Annette Sanchez and all the Sanchez families; many more family members in Velarde, La Conava, Lyden, Alcalde, Albuquerque and throughout NM and in Colorado. His family in Santa Fe was preceded in death by Isabel and Emma Gurule. He is also survived by his padrino, David Gurule, and all the Gurule family, brother and sister from Santa Fe. He will be missed dearly by many. Rosary will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial donations will be accepted at DeVargas Funeral Home for funeral costs, any contribution will be accepted and greatly appreciated.
