It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Ralph Romero, of Lyden, New Mexico, who left this world July 2, 2026, the age of 55.

Joseph better knew to everyone as Ralph, loved to work on vehicles as he was a mechanic by trade. He loved spending time with his son, Marcos, family and many dear friends. He also, enjoyed drag racing, mud bugging, camping, hunting and fishing.

Ralph was preceded in death by mother Filiberta Major, grandmother Rafaelita Romero, uncle Jose Romero, aunt Corine Romero as well as several other family members.

He is survived by his son, Marcos Romero of Alcalde, best friends Kenny and Rebecca Quintana of La Puebla, Jacqueline and Melinda Quintana of La Puebla who he considered as his nieces, cousins Norine, Christy, Ebony and Santiago Romero of Albuquerque.

A Rosary will take place on Thursday July 16, 2026, at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, at 6:00 pm.

Mass will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Velarde, NM, with Burial to follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenny Quintana, Rebecca Quintana, Adrian Gonzales, Gabe Gonzales Jerald Ortega, and Lino Herrera.
