Joseph Montoya

Joseph Casey Montoya (best known as Casey) went home to be with the Lord on July 13, 2022.  Casey was born on August 2, 1948.  He married the love of his life Esmeralda (Essie) Montoya on July 2, 1978.

Casey was a quick-witted, fun loving man. He fiercely loved his family and his dog ‘Diamond’. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and chasing fun. Casey worked for the County of Los Alamos for 25 years. In his older years, he enjoyed reading and watching a good ol’ western.

Casey is survived by his wife Essie Montoya, sons Robert Johnson Montoya and Jonathan Montoya and daughters Juanita Miller (Jeff Miller) and Jessica Montoya-Valerio (Richard Valerio).  His grandchildren: Joseph Romero, Ashley Valerio, Annalise Valerio, Neveah Johnson, Lyla Martinez and brother Bruce Montoya (Irene Montoya).

Casey was preceded in death by his mother Mela Montoya, father Eppie Montoya, sisters Evelyn and Amy Montoya, grandmother Agatha Montoya, and Aunt Ernestine Montoya.

A rosary for Joseph Casey Montoya will be on Friday, July 22, 2022 at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at 1:00 p.m. and a service at 1:30 p.m..
