Jose Sanchez

d. June 26, 2021

Jose (Joe) Sanchez was born on May 24,1949 to Manuelita and Nicomedes Sanchez in Llano Largo, New Mexico. Together they had 8 sons.  Joe was the 6th of the eight. Later Manuelita gave him a younger sister and Nicomedes gave him a younger brother.  Joe joined the Air Force July 11,1968 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant July 10, 1972.  He was an amazing loving husband who adored his wife.  When Joe saw her for the first time, he told his brother Jerry he was going to marry her.  Jerry, of course, told him that he was full of **** blank.  Being the stubborn person he was, he kept pursuing her until she gave in.  He was also a loving and caring father and grandfather. He always seemed to have a saying and song for all the children in his life and a never-ending supply of cookies.  The cookies were meant to be for his family that would come to visit, but the cookie jar always seemed to be half empty.  His joking and silly sense of humor will be remembered and shared from generation to generation. He may not be with us physically, but his love we will carry, forever in our hearts.

Joe is preceded  in death by his daughter Jolynn and son Harvey, grandparents Macedonio and Epifania Sanchez and Tranquilino and Antonia Lovato, his father Nicomedes Sanchez, his mother Manuelita Montoya, his stepfather, Cresencio Montoya, his brother’s Jerry and Elmer Sanchez. Joe leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years Epimenia, his loving daughters’ Lisa and husband Patrick of Rodarte, Jeanette and husband Dean of Chimayo. His loving grandchildren Angelica of Taos, Michael of Albuquerque, Kimberly and husband Jerome of Albuquerque, Pamela of Albuquerque, Joseph and companion Esperanza of La Mesilla, Andrew and Amanda of Albuquerque, and Isaac of Chimayo. Joe had 11 great grandchildren Kevin, Xavier, Lucas, Damian, Katelynn, Eden, Arabella, Mathias, Niko, Sonya, and Natalia.  Let us not forget his loving Chihuahua, Stewie (Stewart) Sanchez.  His beloved brothers Ben and wife Gladys from Thornton, Colorado; Manuel and wife Joann from Thornton, Colorado; Nick from New Jersey; Eddie and wife Evan from Brighton, Colorado; Max from Commerce City, Colorado, his brother Johnny from Izba, Spain and a beloved sister Diana and husband Joseph from Brighton, Colorado. A special and dear niece Shirley, and many other loved nieces and nephews. We would like to thank our family and friends for all the love, prayers and support.  A rosary will be held on Monday, July 5, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with Pastor John Hall to follow with a devotional service at 12:45 p.m. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. also on Monday, July 5, 2021. Serving the family as  pallbearers are his grandchildren and nephew Steven Sanchez. The family of Jose (Joe) Sanchez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477-www.devargafuneral.com
