Jose "Luciano" Roybal, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 14, 1935, in the quaint town of El Rancho, New Mexico, Luciano's life was a testament to love, dedication, and craftsmanship, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege to know him.

Predeceased by his parents, Aaron and Veronica, his siblings Pablo, Jane (Clyde), Donelia, Abel, Lillian, Eloy, and Eufemia, his children Lois, Karl, Louie, Janet, his friends Leroy Duran, Jim Baber, Martin Roybal and numerous other family members. In 1958, Luciano married the love of his life, Bernie Mary Roybal, and together they built not just a home, but a legacy of love and family that spanned generations. Over their 68 years of marriage, they were blessed with 11 children: Lucille (Charles), Bernadette (Harold), Jacqueline (Ivan), Anna (Tommy), Moses (Jasmine), Beverly, Larry (Alma), Siblings: Floyd, Manuel, Esther, Nora, Gloria, Ruth, David and Julia. His family grew to include 35 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of his heart.

Luciano was the cherished son of Aaron and Veronica Roybal, who instilled in him the values of hard work and faith. He was a proud graduate of Pojoaque Valley High School and went on to further his education at New Mexico Highlands University. His career began at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, but it was his passion for carpentry that truly defined his professional life. Working alongside his dear friend Jim Baber and Ernest Silva at Mr. Carpet, Luciano dedicated his talents to building beautiful homes throughout Northern New Mexico. His craft was not just in wood and nails, but in the foundations of love and shelter he provided for his family and community.

Luciano's life was enriched by his music; the soulful notes of his saxophone were a staple at family gatherings, as he played with the band "The Larks & Imperials." Yet, nothing brought him more joy than the laughter of his grandchildren as they played outside, with him watching lovingly from his front porch. A man of great faith, he was an active member of the Assemblies of God from a young age, following in the footsteps of his father, Aaron.

Luciano's legacy is carried on by those he leaves behind. His devoted wife, Bernie Mary, his children and their spouses, his grandchildren, and his great-great-grandchildren, as well as his good friend Robert Romero & Tranky Roybal, all mourn his passing while celebrating the wonderful life he lived.

Luciano's family extends their deepest gratitude to those who cared for him in his final days. They find solace in the memories he created and the love he shared. As they remember him, they hold close the words: "A Father's Love Is Forever Imprinted On His Child's Heart."

Jose "Luciano" Roybal will be remembered not just for the homes he built, but for the legacy of love, laughter, and faith he leaves behind. His life was a beautiful melody, and though he is gone, his song will be sung by those who loved him for generations to come.

Burial to follow at the Assembly of God Cemetery in El Rancho, N.M. with the following
